The opportunity to review a new 'Vida' track is definitely one to grab with both hands in my eyes. I am very sure a lot of you won't need any convincing by me to go and listen to these lads as you will already be a fan (like me). If you are yet to discover what these lads from Alloa have done so far in their short musical career then let me fill you in a little. The still unsigned band have definitely taken the right steps so far to becoming established on the UK music scene with previous releases gaining attention in all the right ways. Their earlier single 'Fade Away' which boasts almost 300,000 streams on Spotify has also been awarded track of the week by Radio X. The band have also had one of their tracks featured on Soccer AM. All this attention hasn't gone unnoticed and they were invited on a headline UK tour by This Feeling, with shows in London, Dunfermline, Manchester, Birmingham and Glasgow, with the later four shows being sold out.
Moving onto the matter of the new release 'A place where we can forget,' the track is available on all major streaming platforms and comes with a very well recorded and well scripted music video.
The track was recorded at Magic Box studio in Dundee by Kieren Webster, the very same man responsible for much of The View's releases. Straight away you are grabbed by the small snippet of acoustic guitar before the band kicks and a melodic wave comes crashing into your ears. I find the piano chords being played through-out to be very powerful combined with the light melodic-ness (not a word, I know!) of the electric guitar. The track flows very well with a little pre-chorus guitar hook which perfectly prepares your ears for the big anthem like chorus. The whole song just oozes great summer vibes and wouldn't sound out of place on one of the big stages at the summer festivals, I can already picture the crowd, beer in hand, rain poncho on chanting this chorus at the top of their lungs. The guitar solo feels like its almost in the song to give you a break from the chanting, however, its short lived and very soon its back into the chorus.
This band are definitely, in my eyes, one of the hottest prospects from Scotland currently paving their way onto the national music scene. They just seem to be going from strength to strength, I can wait to see what 2018 has in store for them.
