This Feeling | The Vanities Preview | 26th October

As This Feeling gain traction as a popular UK wide event, we couldn’t be happier to see them bring more fun-loving feels to Conroy’s Basement in Dundee this week. Filled with their usual musical gourmet buffet spread of tracks from their DJ sets as well as a wicked line up to boot. Heading up this evening will be the Vanities. They will be supported by PLASMAS and Novella. You can expect to hear legends such as Arctic Monkeys, Catfish & The Bottlemen, The Smiths, The Strokes, Super Furry Animals and more on the decks.

The Vanities are an indie/punk band from Glasgow who will bring you super charged guitar riffs with a nuclear kind of energy that explodes through your being like a supersonic meta-frequency. These guys are ahead of their years in both talent and presence on the Scottish music scene. Their sound has been likened to something akin to the vocals of Scot Kyle Falconer from The View. This meshes exquisitely with their hybrid garage punk sound. Some of the biggest musical inspiration comes from The Clash and The Libertines, building a lot of their own tracks around the melodies of first wave punk and big choruses from the likes of the Jam. They’re nothing short of ambitious but will be sure to deliver.

As if this wasn’t enough to convince you, there’s also PLASMAS to look forward too. A four-piece outfit from Dundee. Having recently released their new single ‘Spark’ at the end of last week, and with their upcoming headline show at the beginning of November the guys are amplifying both their local and country-wide fan base. They have made regular appearances in their hometown and have been since gaining traction amongst the top names floating around our unbeatable music scene.

Finally, last up are Novella. Another band from Dundee’s ever rising pool of musical talent. Having recently played their headline gig at The Beat Generator in Dundee, they are rapidly becoming a favourite nationwide. Holding to the true diversity of This Feeling’s events, Novella are largely influenced by 90s Brit-pop. This year saw the release of ‘Higher’, ‘Otherside’ and ‘Plastic Rose’. Think of raw and guttural sounds, weaved in amongst lingering guitar sweeps and rhythms that play out like no one’s watching.

If This Feeling’s reputation is anything to go by and if you haven’t yet seen any of these guys play live, I can’t emphasise enough the massive hole that’s waiting to be filled in your musical heart. Tickets are still on sale from the links below and be sure to keep an eye out for future appearances from all of the above.
