Perth's party go-to since 1991, Rhumba, celebrates its 28th anniversary on Saturday 19th October at beloved Perth nightclub The Ice Factory.
Over the years Rhumba has been a staple in the Scottish electronic music scene. Offering a stepping stone into the public eye for the likes of Jasper James, Denis Sulta and more.
For such a special party it's no surprise that they plan to celebrate their birthday in style, and by style we mean with one hell of a line-up.
Headlining the Saturday's antics are none other than Scottish techno legends SLAM. These guys are world renowned for their contribution to the evolution of electronic music in the 90's when rave culture was really beginning to blossom.
Expect hot, hard and heavy techno beats from the duo and hopefully a few classic tracks such as Lifetimes.
Joining SLAM on the bill are another dynamic duo, Silicone Soul. After signing with SLAM's Glasgow-based record label SOMA back in 1998 they released numerous top hits which have earned them praise and recognition across Europe, and from highly sought after publications such as DJ Mag.
Harri is another top Scot who will be jumping behind The Ice Factory decks on Saturday night. If the title head of house was to ever be applied I believe now would be the time. Harri has been a vibrant figure in Glasgow's house music scene for years now, you can verify this with his record breaking 20-year residency at Sub Club - wow.
Whilst under the name of 'Daddy's Favourite' Harri flexed his immaculate production skills with iconic track 'I Feel Good Things for You.' Give it a spin.
Groovement will also be on hand to light up their hometown with resident DJs playing the deeper side of electronix their regulars have came to know and love over the past 6 years.
Mixing things up a wee bit will be Glasgow's fresh new talent Rebecca Vasmant. Originally from a jazz background she has intertwined this with her passion for electronic music and precision in mixing and producing. She will definitely be one to watch on the night.
Micheal Kilkie B2B Zammo, Billy Morris, Niknak, Rayjam and Chris Mann will also be behind the decks for this unforgettable Rhumba fiesta.
Doors open for Rhumba at 9 pm but if you want to get things started early you can head along to That Bar in Perth for the FREE pre-party starting at 7 pm, oh yes.
And for all you Dundonians who don't want to be lumbered with driving duties, there is a bus running from Dundee Science Centre directly to The Ice Factory on the night with return after the club shuts. Only £11 for the return bus! Snap it up whilst you can.
This does not look like a party you want to miss. Already there is a great buzz going around for Saturday 19th of October, there's something about a Rhumba party that exuberates a warm feeling of homecoming. We can't wait to get on that dancefloor.
