Straight out of Ayrshire!!!! Indie crazed Static Suns are here to deliver as their rep gets bigger. Okay, that's about all the Hip Hop styling you'll get out of me today (everywhere sighs of relief ring out.)
Static Suns are a band to shout about. This Ayrshire indie rock quartet are storming the Scottish Central belt with kick ass energy and riffs to make you quiver. They're all set to dazzle cyberspace on the 28th of September (today!) with their hot new single Strobelight.
Strobelight drifts out the speakers with a smooth sultry groove that has a distinctive summery vibe. It helps me to escape the sound of wind and rain lashing against my window pane as I write this review. A choppy guitar intermixes with a funky and playful rhythm section that's sure to get your foot tapping. Vocals, casual and cool, bop along with a confidence reminiscent of Alex Turner of Artctic Monkeys fame. Filled with character, the vocals exude attitude and charisma. The song's laid back sway is both infectious and delightfully suave. Proceedings come to a climax with a guitar solo that bursts with youthful energy. The guitar sound is smooth and silky with a slight spiky attack that punches through the mix bringing the song to an emphatic final chorus...Strobelight is just so darn cool!
Next up on the single is Still Not Coming. Massive drums and overdriven guitars explode with energy and catapult the listener towards an attitude driven verse that oozes rock n roll spirit. A solid riff pulls back to allow vocals to take centre stage. The vocals have an abundance of power, grit and determination that flow with great ease. The outro to this song is very cool indeed. The singer yells 'COME ON!!!' to unleash a foot stomping rampage of pounding drums, fuzzed out guitars and anthemic vocals...... Awwww Yeah !!!!!
