Single Review | Vandal Palace | Come Back Down

Vandal Palace are an indie-pop/rock four piece from Edinburgh, and I have a good feeling about them. If you had asked me who they were before Thursday, I would have probably looked at you blankly, and replied “Sorry, who?”. But I’m glad I know who they are now.

Their new single ‘Come Back Down” sounds like summer, and with its electronic start, it’s not quite the song you expect it to be, and that’s not a bad thing.

Vandal Palace - Come Back Down

It quickly turns into a booming indie-rock anthem, with pounding drums and a catchy guitar riff which, accompanied by lead singer Jake Morgan’s distinctive drawl, brings the whole song together nicely and by the first chorus, I guarantee you’ll find yourself singing along.

The verses are softly sung, and lead up to a crescendo chorus, one you can imagine a live audience losing it to on the summer festival circuit, and equally wouldn’t be out of place at a hazy afternoon BBQ and enjoying a few drinks with your mates.

Overall, Vandal Palace are a band you should be keeping your eyes open for, these boys are going to be big, if they keep hitting it out the park with singles of this calibre, then it won’t take long for them to reach the top.
