SINGLE REVIEW | WOES - 'Money Shoe'

Scottish Pop Punk four-piece Woes release new single ‘Money Shoe’

There’s no stopping Scottish Pop Punk band Woes as the lift the lid on new single ‘Money Shoe’ a song exploring the hardships of being utterly broke but still wanting to provide for your family and loved ones. This is the new single to be released, giving us a taster on what their debut album ‘Awful Truth’ will sound like when it is released June 28.

If you are not already intrigued, you will be when we tell you that this song has elements of every wacky genre out there, featuring anything from pop punk to rap to metal.

While you may be sitting there thinking – how on earth is a song pleasing to the ears when there is so much going on and a variety of incredibly different genres mashed together?

All these sounds flow naturally between one another, a track that is purely telling us what Woes are all about – experimentation and forming an entirely new sound.

Starting off with a light sound yet strong vocals, Money Shoe is catchy from the get go, escalating quite quickly into a rocky chorus bursting with passion. Suddenly we are listening to a Paramore-esque type song, not quite expecting the song to elevate into a rock anthem.

The song then fades back into a more softer tone, the vocals once again being the main element. The lyrics remain a stand out, bringing in the aspect of what a rapper would write about but with a pop punk sound, something that remains entirely different for the Scottish music scene.

Woes will be one to watch as they embark on a UK tour to perform the new album, becoming a rising experimental phenomenon amongst Scottish musicians.
