Released on Friday the 31st of May, "Smoke Without Fire" is The Naked Feedback's rocking way of expressing their angst towards society's addiction to phones and social media.
The quartet from Blantyre, Glasgow, have been shaking crowds throughout Scotland and the UK. Not only do they look like a rock band, their songs are all pumped full of power and passion, with a sound reminiscent of Royal Blood and Arctic Monkey's.
Their latest release, Smoke Without Fire, holds an almost wistful or regretful sound at the beginning. Front man, Dean Anderson, has always displayed the variety and strength in his vocal ability but this time the band have gone for a more experimental approach.
His voice morphs to become more robotic, mirroring the theme of the song. These vocals are intertwined with heavy guitar riffs and a tasteful use of percussion.
The second half of the song revs up to it's full anthemic potential. You can almost see the coloured flares and lights floating above a crowd engulfed by the music. The raw lyrics are repeated over a relentless drum beat, reaching out to the cores of the listener.
What was wistfulness at the beginning is then overturned by stronger explosive rock, with an electrifying guitar solo. Smoke Without Fire is yet another dark rock and roll track from the boys.
I'm sure they will also soon be releasing a music video for this track, following in the likes of their high quality videos produced for Cannelure, Something Wicked This Way Comes and The Goodbye.
As well as releasing new music, The Naked Feedback like to stay active on the gigging scene. In 2018 the guys played two back to back gigs in Edinburgh and Glasgow with DMS and had a successful Scottish Tour.
There next few dates are currently set up for Glasgow, playing the 26th of June as part of The King Tut's Wah Wah Hut Summer Nights festival and on the 28th of June with CamGlen Radio at No. 18 Venue.
Keep up to date with more tour dates and new releases via the band’s socials and their website.
