What started out as a two-piece Glasgow folk band merged with a second band where the member turnover was high has ended up as four-piece, named Static Satellites. The band combine an eclectic range of sounds to make their own mix.
Having been going as a four-piece for just under a year now, the Satellites have truly made their mark on the Scottish music scene, bringing it a mix of both folk and punk music, even bringing out a dance track.
Their ability to compose acoustic music not dissimilar to Bon Iver and Ben Howard has landed them with a great new track ‘Spin’, released May 10th.
The drums in turn with the guitar make this piece what it is, forming a good base for the vocals to flow smoothly.
Having released this brilliant track, what makes it even more incredible is the fact that all proceeds from the record will go to Samaritans, a charity which helps those struggling through emotional distress or not being able to cope.
Given the themes of mental health that are prominent throughout the piece, it seemed the perfect match to give the money to Samaritans.
The band are making quite the name for themselves as talented as well as charitable, having had an acoustic gig back in April to raise money for Help Musicians Scotland which aids musicians both with their financial dealings and mental health.
Static Satellites are on the rise in Scotland, playing gig after gig and performing tracks which have a special meaning behind them.
