Flourishing Edinburgh-based four piece, SPYNN released new single ‘PRISTINE’ on the 3rd of March. The 'ambient indie rock' band have released three studio recorded singles prior to this, however this new track appears to stray slightly from the groups usual sound. They worked with Edinburgh based record label Prism Records on the release and celebrated with a single release show at Cabaret Voltaire joined by 'The Links' and 'Weekend Debt'. PRISTINE has been a favourite for SPYYN fans at gigs so it is potentially their most awaited release and the boys did not disappoint!
SPYYN only launched in early 2018 and have already been praised highly by publications such as The Skinny, BBC Radio Scotland and Music News Scotland. SPYNN are unlikely to go unnoticed especially when they are releasing consistently good tunes, each one intriguingly different to the last.
Crashing cymbals and a consistent rhythm, are what follow a short and soft build up to the beginning of PRISTINE. Each verse consisting of quick paced and alluring lyrics sung in a perfectly rugged tone. It is difficult not to become captivated in this song. The track shows a common trait of SPYYN in their dower, sadistic lyrics masked by strong riffs which provoke no other reaction than sheer passion and enthusiasm.
PRISTINE is a great track, it differs slightly from the usual fast paced tempo of the bands previous releases such as 'CITY' and 'PALM'. Featuring more eery and ambient sounds and relaxed vocals, alongside the heavy, drawn out guitar riffs. The track definitely pulls in more rock influences with the strong lead guitar and punching drums. SPYNN are off to an outstanding start of 2019 with this single. We are very excited to see what comes next for these boys. Their next live appearance is the 22nd of March in Glasgow supporting 'The Plastic Youth' to celebrate their upcoming single launch.
