SINGLE REVIEW | KASAMA | PART OF THE FURNITURE

Updated: Jul 18, 2019

Kasama was formed July 2016 in Dumfries & Galloway and released their debut EP ‘Noisy Neighbours’ in July 2018 they have since been performing at venues around Glasgow and Scotland as well as doing a few festivals.

With their first EP being well received and the band also being nominated for ‘Performing Artist of the Year’ in the Dumfries & Galloway Life Awards November last year, we were all looking forward to new music from the band.

‘Part of the Furniture’ was released on the 22nd of March 2019 and has carried on the bands signature style of 90s indie rock with a twist. Starting the song off with two different guitars and beats really grabs your attention as does the rhythmic voice of lead singer Tyee Wright he manages to draw you in even further from his very first word.

As you begin to relax into the song the chorus comes in “I need to escape, I need to get by, I need to leave and I’m wondering why you’re still standing there in your own little world and I need you girl” and after just one listen I can guarantee you will be singing these words for the rest of the day.

The first chorus comes to a close with a abrupt “La” from the front man that leads into a toe tapping instrumental which I imagine seeing live would make it difficult not to standstill and sway along to the beat.

When the trumpet kicks in, you are fully immersed in the song humming along like it’s a song you have known for ages and as the song just fades out it leaves you wanting more from this incredible band.
