With grungy guitar riffs and one of a kind vocals Felix and the Sunsets are creating a buzz within Edinburgh music scene. The band released their debut EP “Don’t Sleep” on the second of November 2018 which was received very well and given positive feedback on the creative songwriting and unique sound. Following the release of don’t sleep came the awaited DéjàVu, released on the first of March 2019.
The song begins with a punchy guitar riff instantly creating a hook for the listener and notes within that riff create an almost dark atmosphere making it interesting to listen to. The song develops with drums and vocals coming in one at a time, this keeps the song moving and continues introducing new sounds for the listener meaning it is continually intriguing. The guitar distinctively changes in the chorus along with the vocal melody making upbeat and catchy but continuing to stick with the atmospheric sound created at the songs beginning ensuring that the piece still flows together. The chorus is loud and would create excitement within an audience. The song continues to develop throughout and gradually builds to the bridge where the song is once again stripped back and increases anticipation before returning to the choruses’ structure but with a newly introduced lead guitar. This section of the song is like a burst of energy within the piece that creates a buzz and live would create enormous energy within the room.
The tracks energy and instantly intriguing sound creates a buzz throughout making it enjoyable to listen to start to finish and the catchy vocal melody sticks with you even once the song has finished. Lead singer Felix Christie unique voice gives the band a distinct sound is very memorable and the song overall fits perfectly with the bands sound and is arguably the bands best yet.
