SINGLE REVIEW | PARLIAMO | END TO END|

Updated: Aug 8, 2019

The Perth four piece return with another unforgettable coming of age anthem.

The boys from Parliamo have been on a roll recently. The venues are getting larger, the buzz has been getting louder and the great singles keep coming.

Last year they released their debut EP, Thrill of The Chase, seemed to be an EP of two halves. One contained their signature jangle-pop inspired sound yet the title track Thrill of the Chase was different. It felt louder, brasher and bolder. In retrospect, the track may have ushered in a new era for the band. As it was followed by the extremely catchy Youth last month, which you can read about here. Now the boys have unveiled their latest single End to End, which was released last Friday.

The track begins with booming drums and a memorable riff that builds up a sense of anticipation. The vocals are fantastically frantic and emotive. The overall production of the single does sound rather chaotic but I believe this was intended. The track feels like it has the potential to become an underground anthem made for bleak yet brilliant beer-soaked Saturday nights.

Perhaps one of the songs greatest features is its dry witty commentary on relationships in the modern era with lyrics such as:

You looked at me like you liked me, will it still be the same after you’ve been inside me?

Parliamo have a rare talent of being able to write honestly about the pitfalls and anxieties that come with being young as well as the exciting memories that are created on the road to adulthood.

Despite their short career, they have progressed greatly from their first doo-wop esque single Weekend to the current fuzz and grit of their latest work.
