The capital's latest influx of citizens enjoyed a night of great music from three bands from across the country in a well measured introduction to Edinburgh's live music scene.
Vansleep opened up the night to a crowd of early birds eager to enjoy their night, and in return gave a set full of spark and vigour with their disco influenced hard rock sound sitting well with the audience. The crowd were immediately appreciative of their energy and presence, with singles Oceans and Streetlights doing particularly well to fresh ears.
Glasgow's Flying By Mirrors followed suit and upped the tempo of the evening, offering a confident style influenced by punk, classic rock and pop - reminiscent of early Green Day at points -and went from strength to strength, with a call and response from the crowd closing out their set to dancing and smiles all round.
Headliners Indigo Velvet took full advantage of the intimate venue to test out some of their new material before they hit the road with an expanded sound later this year. With some new tracks and updated versions of their catalogue, they offered something different to newcomers as well as a new, fuller sound to their older fans. It's fairly evident that they've been working hard on their sound and high profile spots supporting Lewis Capaldi and sets at various high profile festivals throughout the summer have given them the time and scope to really work out what they're all about. With some sage advice about the geography of Edinburgh and a sincere invitation to their future shows, they finished up with crowd pleaser Mona and a left a very happy Bongo Club. ---
