From massive inflatables to extravagant fancy dress, Elrow Town Edinburgh was exactly what I hoped it would be and more! I had heard so many great things about Elrow and could not wait to dive into 11 hours of partying and experience the madness for myself!

When we arrived, it was pouring down (typical) so we headed straight for the Absolut Pink Cathedral, which was already packed out to the brim! The first act I caught from the very impressive line-up was Jonathan Bestley, and what a way to kick off the day. The set was filled with funky disco beats, which I love, and tunes that got everyone in the tent totally hyped. The atmosphere was unbelievable, an amazing first act that kept the crowd engaged for two hours straight.

Our late afternoon experience at Elrow was sound tracked by none other than the legendary Groove Armada, inside the massive Absolut Pink Cathedral. The set was fresh and energetic from start to finish and it had a great mix of tunes including the incredible ‘Superstylin’, which the whole crowd went crazy for. What I loved about the Absolut Pink Cathedral was the fact that it was a whole production complete with sassy dancers, confetti cannons and inflatables and Little Gay Brother knew exactly how to make sure everyone was having the best time, a fab experience! I also caught some of Horse Meat Disco’s three hour set inside the Pink Cathedral which was again, absolutely exceptional. They filled the stage with nothing but good beats and good vibes, an act I would love to see again.

Another stage that I was dying to explore was the Relentless Jail, a tent that was showcasing some of the more local DJ’s. Once I made my way past the ‘Police’ at the entrance to the stage, I then found myself inside a small, dark tent listening to a mix of hard techno and house beats. The intimacy of the stage really complimented each track as they erupted out the speakers and bounced round the room. I was in that tent for just over two hours as the talent that was being showcased in there was just immense, I didn’t want to leave! I caught the whole of Nick Checketts set, which was outstanding from start to finish. I had seen him before at a RARE Thursday in Aberdeen so knew exactly what to expect, and I was not disappointed. We stayed after his set as Conor Larkman & Seàn Finnigan took over the decks and kept the party going with tracks from the likes of Kettama and other up and coming DJ’s. I think having the Relentless Jail and also the Wunderground Rescue stage was a great addition to Elrow, I love finding new DJ’s to listen to and this was the perfect platfrom for them to get themselves out there and show people what they are all about!

After the Relentless Jail experience, we decided it was time to re-charge, get some food, some more drink and have a wee sit down on the massive inflatable seat before CamelPhat at the Singermorning stage. The amount of effort that went into that stage was breathtaking, the visuals and light shows were out of this world. The stage was a whole production in itself, with people dancing high up inside it and others in crazy costumes making their way through the crowd. I wasn’t sure what to expect from CamelPhat but I was pleasantly surprised, they had no problems in keeping the crowd going after around 11 hours of straight dancing and drinking. They played some of their most well-known tracks including ‘Breathe’ and also threw in the phenomenal ‘We Do What We Want’ by Alan Fitzpatrick at the end of their set, which was complete with more confetti and an outstanding laser show in true Elrow style.

Elrow have just announced their return to Scotland on 11th October 2019 at the iconic SWG3 in Glasgow. The theme for this party is El Brownx which is a kaleidoscopic celebration of US culture in which the experience will recreate the hustle and bustle of downtown New York. The set up will include: graffiti, yellow cabs, hot-dog stands, the Lady Liberty, sneakers hanging from telephone wires, booming bass-lines and whole lot more. This event will sell out and tickets are on sale now, so be quick! If my last Elrow experience is anything to go by, El Brownx will be absolutely phenomenal so I definitely recommend getting a ticket. The full line-up is coming soon so keep your eyes peeled for that!
