It’s that time of year when festival vibes start flowing, the all-day music events get going and we say goodbye to the sun under the lights of a main stage or two. TRNSMT festival has become a household name in the festival circuit, taking place on the pastures of Glasgow Green, the East of the city is set to come alive with some of the best names to date. You will be presented with three great days of local and big names alike from the 12th-14th July this year.
Several Scottish acts have made the cut this year featuring across both the main and King Tut’s stages. Friday will bring the unmissable Gerry Cinnamon who has shot up the fame ladder over the past year or so. Gerry has fuelled his own success as an independent artist in Scotland. The story goes that all he needed was just one Facebook post to sell out many nights at Glasgow’s Barrowland Ballroom, earning him a Barrowland ‘Hall of Fame’ award. He is known for being a lyrical maestro, self-producing his debut album Erratic Cinematic and bringing an energy filled performance to his live shows. Friday will also be host to other big names such as Example, Mabel, Cassia and Stormzy.
Saturday is full of electrifying sounds with the SNUTS making an appearance on the main stage. They are a four-piece from West Lothian who bring their own elegance to the genre of indie rock. They secured a solid Scottish following by the end of 2017 and then spread their tantalising tunes further afield, making appearances nationally and across Europe. If you haven’t yet been part of the crowd at a SNUTS gig, you’re missing out on the elating experience of everyone in the room singing along to lyrics close to any Scottish person’s heart. It’s a shiver creating experience you’ll not want to miss.
Also appearing on the Saturday are The Dunts, a Glasgow based ‘council punk’ quartet who like to bring a politically charged message to their music. They too have been making lasting impressions with their ferocious yet tongue in cheek repertoire, gaining themselves several sold out shows and international level festival appearances. Selling out across the country after the release of their brutally honest singles such as ‘Dimitri’ and ‘Birds and The Beez’, you can’t afford to miss what these guys have to offer this summer. Saturday will also be home to Catfish and the Bottlemen, Bastille, DMA’s, The Hunna and Skinny Lister to name a few.
Sunday will offer you both reminiscence and baby fresh talent. With well-known acts such as George Ezra , The Kooks, The Wombats, Circa Waves, and Sea Girls, this can only mean your Sunday will be nothing less than a starry-eyed, fun-filled experience, just brimming with unbelievable music.
At present tickets are still on sale for this who’s who in festival experiences. You can find out more over on the link below!
