In just less than 3 weeks Edinburgh castle will be the back drop to Scotland's biggest up and coming electronic music festival of the year. Now here for a full weekend on Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd of September this is one worth going into work on the Monday absolutely hinging out your arse for.
It feels like only days ago that I started my summer off with FLY Open Air : Sulta Selects back on the 19th of May in the grounds of Hopetoun House. An absolute belter of a day, the heatwave had just began, cold ones on tap at the bar and amazing atmosphere and music.
The likes of Seth Troxler,Tom Trago and Jayda G warmed up the stage for Denis Sulta to close the
night. There's something nice about only having one stage whilst everyone spreads out over the grass during the day to enjoys the music, as the day turns to night every single festival goer ends up in the 1 same place listening and dancing to the same dj. So it seems only right to end the way it all began and return to FLY at the end of this month.
Peggy Gou is another one I am looking forward to seeing her bac log of tracks includes bright almost jazz influenced techno with her most recent songs featuring cultural influences of her Korean heritage even with Gou's own vocals in Korean. She's a lassie making one hell of splash in a male music scene following the likes of Hannah Wants and Nina Kraviz.
THE LINE UP:
Saturday the 22nd will be presented to by Theo Kottis featuring: Kerri Chandler, Henrik Schwarz, Move D and Hammer. Kerri Chandler is definitely one to look out for from the line up. The American producer is one of the ultimate old schoolers in deep house with his highest credited work from the 'Atmosphere' EP released back in 1993 still reaching the decks these days.
Kottis himself will be a definite point of interest if his most recent album 'Beautiful Strangers' is anything to go by. His range in musical influences comes across in how he samples in his tracks and his more melodic approach to electronic music.
Sunday the 23rd is presented to you by Jasper James who has spent the summer playing everywhere from New York to Stirling, Stockholm to Arbroath, Tokyo to Kirkcaldy. His line up includes Harri & Domenic, Peggy Gou, Palms Trax, Jackmaster and Hunee.Palms Trax is known for pulling out the funk and soul card in a set which is always a crowd pleaser.
