Deep in the heart of Edinburgh's old town resides the Banshee Labyrinth. A delightfully spooky venue that prides itself on being Edinburgh's most haunted pub. The perfect setting for what is sure to be a thunderous night of tomb shaking rock and roll.
Headlining this three band thriller is the face melting Megalomatic. Touring the UK with their ferocious brand of awesome gut busting riff heavy rock. These Glasgow based rockers are set to raise the roof and blow all cobwebs away. Formed in 2013 they have an almighty back catalogue of sonic delights that are available to browse and download direct from their Bandcamp Page. I particularly enjoyed the 2013 single Stan Dash. Towering riffs of syncopation that lie somewhere between At The Drive In and Biffy Clyro are blended beautifully with powerful gritty vocals. It's the kind of vocals that make the little hairs on the back of your neck stand to attention with their overwhelming force and majesty. The song is gorgeously riotous and oh so satisfying.
The lead track from their new single Coil is a hugely impressive emotive epic that will have you smashing your fists against a wall. The drums tear into your life force, working in tandem with a skillfully heavy bass that's seriously funky. The second track from the single Civility Smiles is equally punishing in it's awesome relentless impassioned power.
Support comes from Not Robots and The Kryss Talmeth Experience.
Edinburgh based Not Robots blew me away with their sonic onslaught of foot stomping rhythms and gorgeously explosive riffs of steel. Horizontal Healing is a must listen. A tour de force of pure power and epic punk fury. The song is accompanied by a video that's oh so visualy enticing. It effortlessly blends the aesthetics of Terminator, Red dwarf and Short Circuit...... Awesome!!!
The Kryss Talmeth Experience bring forth the coolest laid back stoner grooves. Prepare to be mesmerized by deliciously chunky guitar riffs and spoonfuls of kaleidoscopic melodies. Let their slow cooked smoldering sounds melt into your soul. Check out Wizard's Leave for a flavour of this Edinburgh trio's aural splendour.
