Edinburgh duo Macon Heights cast a spell of majestic electronic splendour. Serving us a delightfully decadent array of lush vocals, haunting synths and exquisite pop hooks. Their new single The Line is an irresistible pop temptress.
Like an aural tsunami the opening synth swell bursts into a captivating groove. A soaring vocal tangles the listener in a web of romance and seduction as a beautifully eerie chorus washes over you leaving goosebumps in its wake. The middle eight builds just the right amount of tension before exploding back into a final verse/chorus refrain. Clever songwriting at its best.
Lead singer Carrie Beattie delivers a truly breathtaking vocal performance. It has the strength of Stevie Nicks and the sultry allure of Allison Goldfrapp.
There is lovely dream like quality to this song that's both calming and uplifting in equal measures. I find myself getting lost in its groove as I listen on repeat.
The line is indeed a synth pop gem that leaves you yearning for more.
The single is accompanied by a gorgeously stylish and sleek video. Directed by Gregor Fergie and styled by Erin Culley.
It's available to stream and download from the bands Bandcamp Page. Check out their website to discover more.
