GIGS | FAREWELL WHITEHILL GROVE @SNEAKY PETE'S | 03.03.19

Callum, Danny, Seth and Ethan have become about as much a part of Edinburgh as the castle itself. They've been on the scene for many years now and the saying is true, all good things come to an end. But what a fucking ending the gave us! A weekend of hot and sweaty in Sneaky's joined by Freakwave, Swim School and Static Union. At Discovery we have covered Whitehill Grove a few times in the past so to give them a final farewell we have put together a feature of their last gig, some highlight's of the band's time together from the lads themselves.

The boys walked out to Take That's 'Never Forget', it was a tear jerker from the off. They performed with complete and utter passion and it seemed like nothing could wipe the smiles off their faces. The energy between the sold out crowd and the band was incredible and a total icon of what local music should be and why we should support the scene.

We were treated to Callum's powerful, raspy voice we've come to know and love, most noticeably in personal favourite track of mine 'Indiana.' Now you might of heard this one live and thought it was going to become a lost in the legacy of Whitehill Grove but fear not because they've only gone and released an EP of raw tracks they had been working on over the past year. We now have access to everything they have written and played including songs like 'Fancy Hats' and 'Holy Water', make sure to listen to them HERE.

Who better to tell you about the best bits of Whitehill Grove than the band themselves, the boys were given homework to pick out their highlight's from the band and this is what they gave us...

DANNY

'My favourite moment was the second tour, it actually felt like we were a proper band for once which was lovely. People buying us pints and stuff saying the really enjoyed the set was class, just overall a very successful few dates. The photo just makes me very happy'

ETHAN

'Playing the Day Tripper in Dunbar was definitely my favourite Whitehill Grove memory. We played on the biggest stage we have played to a whole park full of people. People really, really liked us, people came up asking for photos, sending us lovely emails. I am so proud to have been a part of the band and will never forget the amazing memories I made. Thank you to everyone that has supported to us over the years, you made this group of idiots very happy over the years. Ethan Deane, signing off.'

CALLUM

'Whilst this photo Isn't of anything in particular I really like it. I think this was just before we lost Hannah on the underground in London and it doesn't quite show how excited we all were to be there. It was a really great couple of days.'

SETH

'The last weekend was the perfect way to end 4 years of Whitehill Grove. Having two back to back sold out shows is something we never thought we could ever achieve. Usually when bands split up its due to a fallout between members, but here we’re all still best friends which is the most important thing for us. We’ll still be involved in music in different ways and are excited to watch the emergence of new bands in our place. WG forever x'
