It felt like a long time in coming round but it was finally time to see Vida headline their biggest venue to date. It was my first time at the Liquid Room so I was looking forward to seeing what the venue was like. Its quite rare I am through in Edinburgh for a gig so this was the perfect excuse to head through to the capital.
First support of the night were The Lutras. Unfortunately I missed seeing them perform as I had arranged to meet Vida for an interview just after doors opened and with delays in getting into the venue meant I didnt manage to catch them.
The second support of the night came from Falkirk band Pleasure Heads. I saw them last week in Dundee playing at the Independent Venue week event and have to say I was very impressed with them. This time they sounded even better. They also had a large crowd watching on which is always great to see, nothing worse than seeing people not turning up for the support bands. If I was to name a band who I think will do big things in 2019 then Pleasure Heads would be right up there. They have a sound that makes them stand out and they already have a good following. If you haven't seen them before then go and check them out!
Finally it was time for the headliners Vida to take to the stage. The atmosphere was absolutely electric as the band took to the stage. Speaking to them before the gig, they were absolutely buzzing to get out there. They don't have a management team behind them and do everything themselves which just shows if you work hard and put the effort then you will get the rewards. Having played at festivals such as Isle of Wight and Electric Fields 2018 the band will be hoping for more of the same and judging by this performance they will be getting a lot of offers this festival season. Their set included the fan favourites such as Fade Away and A Place Where We Can Forget and also a few new songs that are equally as catchy. My favourite moment during the set was during the Fade Away chorus. Jamie stepped away from the microphone and let the crowd sing and it was a proper goosebumps moment. This was a special night and a big milestone in the bands progress and after this gig the sky is limit. Not bad for group of lads from Alloa eh? This night will live long not just in my memory of top gigs I've been to but also of every single person in the audience too.
