Another Thursday night in Dundee and guess what? Another gig! Thursdays are absolutely the new Saturday in Dundee for superb gigs and this was another one. This was the second gig of a four part mini tour around Scotland and the first time they had played in Dundee in nearly two years. They were actually the first gig review DM ever did. Time really does fly eh?

The Medinas

First to take to the stage were The Medinas. They are somebody we have covered a number of times in the last year or so there is nothing I could say again that you haven't read before! They had a big crowd to watch them perform which was great to see, which stayed constant for the whole night. This was another strong performance for the Dundee 4 piece band and they are really adding to their stage presence with each gig. Their crowd favourite song Daisy chains went down superbly with the audience as always, a great sing-a-long song.

Ruvellas

Next up were another band that have been part of our gig reviews a few times over the last 6 months, Ruvellas. They are a band that I really like and think they will continue to go from strength to strength. It has been great to follow these guys from the start and follow them on their journey. Don't let their tentative years fool you, they are a talented band who are improving all the time. In my previous gig reviews I have mentioned about stage presence being an issue but this performance showed it's something they have been working on it. They were clearly enjoying themselves and they sounded superb. Sick & Tired and Still The Same were particular crowd favourites which had the crowd joining in with lead singer Aiden Stuart with the words. Overall a top performance and I would go as far to say their best performance I have seen to date.

Shambolics

Finally it was time for Fife's finest to take to the stage to headline their gig. With their walk on music Motley Crue's Kickstart My Heart, it was the perfect song choice for them to walk onto. It literally did kick start my heart to remind me of how good a live band Shambolics are. The last time I got to see them live was at the now defunct Electric Fields Festival near Dumfries last summer so nearly a year on what had changed? A part from a new drummer nothing at all. If anything with their time off in the studio writing and practising, they've been tightening up their sound and adding in full band harmonies in certain parts of songs which I must say sounds brilliant and something that is very rare in bands these days. Their set felt like it was over as quickly as it started which is a testament to how good of a performance it was, I could have listened to them play all night. Their set was a mixture of classics such as When She Goes Home, Chasing A Disaster, their most recent release My Time Is Now and also a couple of new songs which was great. The new songs are a viewpoint to how the band are evolving their sound which is always cool to see a band pushing the boundaries and creating new sounds. It should also be noted that the crowd were superb during their set, it was the most ruckus crowd I have seen at a Dundee gig in a long time which was surprising but also great too. It made for a brilliant atmosphere. Well done to Ginger Jesus Promotions for putting on this great gig. Another top gig in Dundee and long may they continue.
