Glasgow punk kings Rascalton never fail to create riotous scenes and their recent gig at King Tuts was no exception. Advertised earlier in the year this gig has been highly anticipated by their loyal fanbase and with Snash and Spyres as support it was set to be a wild one.
A usually quiet Wednesday night on St Vincent street was turned manic by both the bands and their up for anything fans . First on the bill were turbulant new comers Spyres, after dropping their debut single 'Otherside' they have gained a rapid amount of success being played on BBC Radio 1 and securing mega support slots like the sold-out Dunts gig in December. Being made up of 15-17 year old's these guys are smashing it! Emily and Keira's mesmerising vocals managed to catch everyone in the rooms' attention from the moment they began to sing, showcasing their unreleased upcoming single 'Fake ID' and blowing the crowd away with a cover of Le Tigre 'Deceptacon'. This band have wild things ahead of them, watch out!
Next up were chaotic heroes Snash, who you knew were set to cause scenes before they even stepped on stage. Performing well known anthems 'White Out' and 'Drag You Down' along with other hits from their E.P as well as their most recent and heavier single 'Warning', Snash had the crowd going insane with limbs flying everywhere (as per usual). Every time I've seen this band I have not once been left disappointed definitely believe the hype!
Finally Rascalton fired up onto the stage, to the crowds excitement. Playing recently released anthems 'Eddy' and 'Employee of The Month' as well as the older tunes that started this band off and grabbed them the fame that allowed them to play gigs like this. Their set was truly electrifying no one was stood still with limbs being thrown over the people in the crowds' heads, I've learned quickly that this always what to expect at a Rascalton gig. Lead singer Jack also got intimate with his fans by joining them in crowdsurfing, again always expected when they play. As the gig went on the sweatier everyone became, it's when you see them playing in their hometown you see how much Rascalton adore their fans and how appreciative they are to get the opportunity to play and please. Rascalton own a well earned place of honour in the Glasgow punk scene hall of fame and you can catch them again on their mini Scottish tour in December.
