I don’t think I can express my excitement for my first local Gig in Aberdeen. On the 16th of November, I’ll be heading down to The Cellar to see a fantastic line-up of artists. At the centre of it all is Audiokicks, an indie/alternative band playing at their hometown in Aberdeen. This three-piece currently have a self-named debut album released in 2015 and are still active with radio appearances and numerous Gigs. Having listened to their album, I love the smooth flowing tone of their songs and it makes for uplifting but easy listening. I have a good feeling about this upcoming show, and if their line-up is anything to go by, it’s going to be a cracking night.
Supporting Audiokicks this evening will be three great bands from both the local scene in Aberdeenshire, to further West of Scotland. I haven’t had the chance to explore much of Aberdeen’s resident artists, so this is a great opportunity for a night of indie-rock and a moment to appreciate what great musicians the Aberdream has to offer.
So, if Audiokicks wasn’t enough to have you as enticed as I am, The Medicine Priests are our first supporting act of the night. This flawlessly fun and catchy band are a 4-piece from the West of Scotland which I’m excited to hear live for the first time. The Medicine Priests have made numerous appearances on the radio the past few years but sadly, they have recently announced their final Gig in Inverclyde around Christmas time. Their appearance at The Cellar will be one of their last Gigs together so be sure to come down and listen to their fabulous music for once last time.
Next up on stage is Connor Clark & The Matador Kings! Having just release their newest single, “Echoes and Patience”, this fast-paced and electrifying band are bound to have the room moving. Another local act from Aberdeen, Connor Clark & The Matador Kings are supporting Audiokicks for a night of dynamic sound and energy.
Finally, their line-up features Kyle MacRitchie for an acoustic set. Originally part of the band Vansleep, their lead vocalist is taking the stage solo for the night. Vansleep are a four-piece band from Aberdeen, rising in the local scene with two new successful Singles this year. With an exciting and progressive band showing their support in big Gigs across Scotland, there’s no doubt that this acoustic set from Kyle MacRitchie is not one to miss.
Be sure to grab some tickets whilst you can, because this is sure to be a phenomenal night of diverse indie music, showcasing the best of local music in Scotland. It’s a Gig I can’t wait to go to, and all the details are on their facebook page where you can buy tickets as well as getting to know some of the bands playing that night.
