Gig Preview 20/9/18 - This Feeling - Dundee w/ Voodoos, Neil Morrison + The Medinas

This Feeling DJs will be bringing you all kinds of reminiscing and dance-hall crashing tunes on Thursday 20th September including tracks from the likes of Arctic Monkeys, Black Honey, The strokes, The Libertines and The Coral to mention but a few. Hitting Conroy’s basement in Dundee, you’re in for a treat with not only some of the best tracks ever to grace our airwaves, but also live performances from some of the best bands on the Scottish circuit this year.

First up is the Dundee 4 piece The Medinas who are now becoming a regular here at Discovery music. For such a young outfit, they have covered a lot of ground, and appear to be able to gig like they were born to do it. Clearly, they have made quite the impression in the past year, already having played alongside the ever-popular Beta Waves, The Traaps and The Roques.

Another fast-emerging talent are Glasgow based artists Voodoos who have skyrocketed in critical acclaim since 2016 at their crowd grabbing appearance at Club Sabbath. They encapsulate that deep internal yearning us indie-rockers have to stamp our feet and get down and dirty with the guttural essence of our misspent youths. The four piece recently released their debut EP ‘Late Night Early Morning’ just last month. Reported as having ‘a remarkably sharp and accomplished sound for a band who have been together for little over a year’ (Tenement TV, Aug 2017) they have grown a lot with the help of Baby Strange’s front man Johnny Madden who helped them streamline their ideas and talent into a wonderfully tight setup.

Neil Morrison Band will also be raising the roof as part of this unbelievable line-up. They also recently released an EP, ‘The Kids Aren’t Alright’ last month. Following his solo career, Neil Morrison band was formed in 2017. Since 2018 the band have been playing numerous live sets alongside top names such as Vida, Sheafs and Matt Hollywood & The Bad Feelings. Known for their classic rock and roll and psychedelic rock alike, Dundee based 5 piece take their inspiration from those such as Bob Dylan, Courtney Barnett, Mac DeMarco, The Seeds and The Velvet Underground. There’s no doubt the best is yet to come with these guys.

If you haven’t yet had the chance to check out this much-acclaimed, nationwide experience from This Feeling, get yourself along for a good old shindig. Tickets are still available but don’t hesitate as they won’t be around for long!
