As the weather begins to heat up, the shorts come out and the taps come aff, we all start to get those festival feelings. Becoming a veteran of the Scottish festival circuit is none other than Rewind Scotland. The festival originally launched in 2009 down in Henley-on-Thames, which later became Rewind South. In 2011 Rewind Scotland was finally born. It is a blazing celebration of the 80s and beyond with a sterling line up for those of you who love a flashback. Taking place at the ever-picturesque Scone Palace in Perth, this blast from the past will take place on the 19th – 21st July. The festival celebrated its 10th anniversary just last year, and promises to bring you the most musically diverse lineup yet!
Kicking off the Friday with an nostalgic DJ set that will bring those 80s vibes alive and get you all set for a weekend of visits down memory lane is Martin Kemp. Live acts then follow on the Saturday and Sunday. First, making their Rewind debut will be world renowned Foreigner, headlining the main stage on the Saturday. They are known for their classic rock vibes and headed up by Mick Jones and Kelly Hansen. They have sold over 80 million records, have no less than 10 multi-platinum albums and 16 top 30 hits. You may recognise some of their well known tracks such as ‘I Want To Know What Love Is’, ‘Cold As Ice and ‘Hot Blooded’.
They will be joined by someone who might be regarded as a national musical icon by many: Lulu. She is well known for her singles ‘Shout’ and ‘To Sir with Love’. It will also be this singer-songwriter’s first time at rewind festival. The native Scot has been making waves since the 60s and is still going strong with regular gigs and tours.
The main stage will also be host to Paul Young, a triple platinum chart topping UK sensation, who had several hit albums in the 80s and won two BRIT Award for his musical talents during this time. Saturday night will also include other big names such as Eddi Reader, Black Box, The Undertones and Hipsway.
Sunday night will see the likes of Bryan Ferry take the stage, a recent addition to the 2019 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame with his band Roxy Music, he has had much success over the years both with his solo career and also with the band. Included in the Sunday night rundown will be The Stranglers, bringing a flair of punk to the evening as well as Lisa Stansfield, Belinda Carlisle, Midge Ure, The Skids and Big Country. The musical diversity will bring an unparalleled experience of reminiscent bliss to your summer nights.
The festival is a family friendly affair, incorporating a kid’s area with circus skills workshops, sports days and giant bubbles! More info will be released in the coming months.
