The fiery Glasgow scene has been gifted by the recent release of 'Self Proclaimed Council Punk' the second EP from riotous rockers The Dunts. This year has been a whirlwind of recognition and appreciation for this hardworking foursome, from playing Reading and Leeds to selling out their end of year King Tuts gig these boys have managed to take the scene by storm.
After the release of their first EP the level of success that followed was almost unimaginable, playing venues around Europe and smashing a countless amount of Scottish shows the band have yet again shown us that they deserve this acclaim given through their recent release. The new EP features two previously released singles 'The Birdz And The Beez' and 'Witch Hunt' both of which were warmly welcomed by listeners as they hold the rambunctious vibe The Dunts had previously created within earlier releases. Tracks only before heard live 'Ride the Wave' and 'G53' were included in this explosive EP much to my excitement as every time they were played live it was what I can only describe as mayhem.
The impressive EP opens with chaotic banger 'G53' which has frantic guitar playing in true Dunts style, quickly it descends into 'Ride The Wave' another heavy tune that replicates the sounds channelled on their first EP. Then comes the ballad of Johnny Rotten's planned revenge on the BBC 'Witch Hunt' a fast paced anarchic tune. Lastly we are given 'The Birdz And The Beez' to finish off an impressive piece of work by one of the most hard working and dedicated bands to grace our scene in years.
The Dunts have had an insane year it's been crazy watching them grab massive opportunities and I don't doubt that next year holds even bigger things for them. They have already been to play at SXSW in Texas next March as well as Live at Leeds and Hit the North Festival in May. I can't even put into words how much I love this band and cannot wait to see their last show of 2018 in King Tuts!
