Gig Review|Rascalton @ Saint Luke's | 15/12/18

Updated: Jan 7, 2019

Rascalton blew the roof right off of Saint Luke's with a spectacular show that left everyone speechless and sweaty. The Glasgow punks announced this sterling line-up back in September, this gig had been highly anticipated since their EP launch in May. Of course Rascalton were out to impress when they chose their support for the night as they had fellow Glasweigans Snash open the show followed by Camden beauties Calva Louise then the ever-so chaotic Strange Bones warmed the crowd up before the band graced the stage.

The venue was packed with enthusiastic fans who brought a great atmosphere, young and old which added to the whole brilliance to the gig. Snash started the party and certainly got the crowd going, judging on experience these boys get wilder every time I see them and they seem to have built up an impressive fan base for being a relatively new band. Playing previously released tunes 'White out' and 'Drag You Down' Snash managed to create madness in the crowd and they also gave us a few teasers of some unreleased songs.

With the crowd feeling relatively warmed up it was then time for the brilliant alternative rock trio Calva Louise who bounced onto the stage excitedly ready for chaos. Showcasing groovy riffs and strong vocals this lot never disappoint, performing their latest catchy ballad 'Tug Of War' they managed to hype the crowd up from Jess's passion-filled vocals. They have exactly what the fans of this generation crave and being a big fan myself it's great to see them smashing it.

Now I had never properly listened to strange bones prior to this gig but I remained optimistic and honestly I was gobsmacked they were like no one I had ever seen before. Originating from Blackpool these mental boys managed to turn majority of the crowd into a pit of pandemonium whilst chanting their songs of political agony. The energy this band brought really touched the fans you could tell the rage-filled vocals hit the spot for almost everyone in the room.

Finally Rascalton hit the stage greeted like kings and from the first song they played you could just tell it was going to be a special performance. Their manic sound rippled around the room the same sound that gives them their uniqueness and sets them apart from others in the same genre. Limbs flew everywhere as they played hits old and new 'Lost Generation' sent the crowd into absolute madness there was pints flying everywhere and doc martens passing over my head. The sheer joy this band brought to the audience was something beyond special everyone was on the exact same level. The on-stage chemistry really showcased exactly what Rascalton are all about, just friends doing exactly what they love you can tell these boys get so much enjoyment out of these shows.

This gig really was amazing and I think that is due to the all-star line-up they are all such insane bands and deserve every single bit of acclaim they get! Well worth the cheap ticket and I'm extremely excited to see Rascalton this month with Strange Bones and Snash at Sneaky Pete's then Calva Louise at the Garage in March! Tickets are on sale for both at the minute grab them now to avoid disappointment!
