Heavy Rapids Preview 9/11

PCL Presents one of the most ground shaking, toe tappingly tantalising line-ups the Garage has seen this year. Coming at you next Friday 9th November are headliners Heavy Rapids who will be supported by none other than Gallus, The Vanities and Snash. If you haven’t been lucky enough to catch any of these acts live yet you’ll want be sure to make the trip for a very memorable evening.

Having only formed in 2017, Heavy Rapids have been scaling to enormous heights in the Glasgow music scene. Playing some of the biggest festivals of the year including TRSMT, Electric Fields, Truck and Tramlines with lots of exciting gigs booked well into 2019. They’re known for their punk influenced rock sound that comes with it a boundless energy that will get even the toughest crowd moving. They are currently working on an EP release for this year into next but have had great success with their single ‘Stuck With’ which is an embryonic encapsulation of raucous spirit and intelligent music.

Joining them will be the fresh new outfit Gallus they only released their debut single in March but have been making appearances across the country since. They are known for their live reputation. This is reason in itself to get along for the experience. Also originating from Glasgow, they totally embody what it means to be Gallus, literally Gallus by name, Gallus by electrifying animated performances. They bring a meshing of punk and indie rock, and their latest single ‘Split’ is just as supercharged as its predecessor ‘Nice’.

Next up are The Vanities, another indie/punk style affair also repping for the Glasgow scene. Some of their main influences include the likes of The Clash and The libertines so you can expect something raw and memorable from these guys. Their debut single ‘Half a Hunner, Still a Stunner’ speaks for itself really in terms of just how much talent is brimming between these guys. Self-described as playing ‘brash, energetic, punk music fused with a sort of garage vice and some modern influences’ they offer a unique sound that is clearly driven by a passion for music and a knack for creativity.

Keeping in tow with the rest of this unbelievable bunch are Snash, who play punk rock that’s true to its DIY roots with a complete indignation for anything other than their vision. Their debut single ‘White Out’ was launched at their headlining gig at Broadcast earlier this year. It is an honest and frank expression of personal experiences and a desire to communicate through music. They’re not afraid to speak their minds and really offer some tunes for thought with this track. You can expect to find something pretty meaningful in their storming live performance.

This will not be your average punk rock and indie gig next weekend. You’ll be witness to some of the freshest sounds around at the moment. Tickets are still currently available at the links below, with more information on all the bands at the respective social media platforms.
