Manchester Indie four piece, The Covasettes have hit the British music industry by storm this year after the successful release of their single, ‘Top Drawer’ securing over 290,000 streams on Spotify ahead of their UK tour this month which we can’t wait to cover here at DM.

As soon as I heard ‘Top Drawer’, i was instantly intrigued to see what else the band had to offer. The song focuses on modern day relationship issues which a lot of listeners can relate too. The lyrics include: ‘And stop me, ‘cause I've had too much to drink, and help me cause my head and heart are out of sync’.

I feel in this generation, there won’t be many people who can’t say they haven’t drunkenly phoned/ text / approached someone they like in order to tell them how they really feel.

I’m sure most of you will know the fear of having one too many drinks and declaring your feelings for someone, tragically I have to admit i know this feeling all too well haha!

It’s why songs like ‘Top Drawer’ can have an impact to listeners – the song identifies with people showing the clear ability the band have with song writing. People enjoy music that they can relate to and it takes a special kind of song writing talent to achieve this. The kind of talent that The Covasettes certainly have.

The band are more than just ‘Top Drawer’ however with their debut EP, ‘It’s always above the Clouds’ showing their wide range of talent. Featuring the singles such as, ‘Twit Too, ‘You and I’, ‘Let’s go’ and ‘Fine Lines’. The ultimate selection of feel good summer songs that will have anyone up dancing especially when seeing them live!

They’re the type of band with just after one listen, you will be gripped. With already selling out, venues within Manchester, Derby and London this year, this is just the start for The Covasettes!

So far within their UK September tour, the band have already played Portmouth and London with Leeds, Sheffield, Newcastle fast approaching and ending with their final night at Broadcast, Glasgow. What an end to the tour it will be!

If you are a fan of Catfish and the Bottleman, The Sherlocks or Two Door Cinema Club and want to discover one of Britain’s most exciting upcoming band then get yourself down to Broadcast this Sunday!
