After their final gig as The Love Affair, I caught up with the band for a chat. You have just played your last gig as The Love Affair, how was it? Emotional. Its exciting as well as its the end of an era to bring on a brand new one. We felt like it was a fitting farewell. We've got something up our sleeve. We feel like its a blessing in disguise to move on. In a way the name change was like a shot to the arm, it gave us the kick up the arse we needed. The new name and the new logo fits us better than the old one, its definitely more relevant to how we became a band in the first place. The new name means a lot more and its a fresh start. Apart from the name change, what can we expect from you in 2019? Stronger tunes and more gigs. We've always had good tunes but we now have better thoughts about tunes and they are better produced, they are more intelligent. They are very poetic tunes. We are still a fresh band though, we've only done a hand full of stage shows. More gigs is what to expect and that's what we need and gigs outside of Dundee. Music and gigs is the main things. It took us two minutes to answer that but the answer is music and gigs. Who are you listening to in the Scottish Music scene? They may not be current now but The View will always be a big influence. Currently just now the best musically in Scotland has to be Miracle Glass Company they write songs you wouldn't expect to get nowadays. You listen to them and you think "how is this band not massive?" They are underrated as fuck. They have such a big sound and they are just a great fucking band. Neon Waltz is another. Vida are good boys as well. In chronological order it would be MGC, Neon Waltz and Vida. The three best bands in Scotland. How does the song writing process within the band happen? There is no set process. There are three writers in the band. We played 7 songs tonight but we've got like 15 songs that have been dropped, been brought back then dropped again. We are very very fussy. Somebody will like write the spine of a song and bring it forward and we will all sit together and work it out. When we put this band together, no other bands are doing vocal harmonies and that's something The Beatles, The Beach Boys, The Eagles bands like this totally annihilate doing it. Most bands nowadays are so disappointing when they go to soundcheck and they are like "we only have one vocal", its boring!
