INTERVIEW | PRIMES

Writer's picture: Martin LowMartin Low

I recently caught up with Sarah from Falkirk's very own Primes for a wee chat! How would you sum up your 2018?

It’s certainly been a busy debut year. We sat down right at the beginning and formed a 12 month plan and set targets for the band. It’s been a year of learning, establishing ourselves and promoting. We hit all the targets we were aiming for and actually exceeded some. I think it has certainly been a successful 2018 and we can only build on that.

Plans for 2019? Gig as much as we can and try to continue to build a fan base. Same as last year, we have set targets of the year and know what we have to do to achieve them. We have pretty big things coming up festival wise in the summer so that’s exciting and exactly where we want to be.

Any new music in the pipeline? Yes. We go back into the studio in April to record again. Another new single will be available soon. New music is something we like to keep consistent so there will be new music regularly throughout 2019. What are your influences for song writing? What inspires us is people, feelings and moments in our lives. We have written songs about lots of different subjects but we have a very melancholy writing style, it’s just what happens naturally really.  Thoughts on the Scottish Music Scene? There are some great musicians coming out of Scotland just now. It’s exciting times. We are huge fans of the Scottish Scene and of our local scene. We try and support that as much as we can.  Favourite Scottish bands or artists? Between all of us in Primes we love lots of Scottish bands/artists so here is a few: Biffy Clyro Twin Atlantic KT Tunstall Nina NesbittWe Were Promised JetpacksLewis Capaldi If you could cover a song, what would it be and why? Covers isn’t something we do much, we are working on one just now for a live lounge, this is for a festival we are playing with them, so we have been asked to cover a song of theirs, we have picked - Feeling A Moment by Feeder. It suits us with harmonies and style so we will see how that goes.  If you only had one album to listen to, what would it be? Mines would be Meds by Placebo. Still my favourite album to this day.  If you had your own festival, who would be your 3 headliners?  Biffy Clyro (Reece)Placebo (Sarah)The Rolling Stones (Ollie)
