We at Discovery Music are both honoured and excited to be able to preview the newest album from Glasgow based electro-pop band, L-space. The new album ‘Music For Megastructures’ is at a tangent from previous releases, opting for purely instrumental music. Having released their previous album, ‘Kipple Arcadia' in September of 2018, they have differed in style enough to justify a position as one of the most active writing bands in the country.
Music For Megastructures tells a story about life within a fictional city, following four distinctly varied chapters (Transport, Work, Health and Life). Impressively, after listening to the tracks whilst travelling to work, being at work, being overwhelmed with a cold and coming home from nights out, I believe that they have absolutely nailed each section of the album, adding top quality soundtracks to every day life.
The album itself is 20 tracks long and lasts just under 40 minutes. I believe there is few standout songs because each one can hold it’s own so strongly, no filler tracks needed throughout which is very refreshing from an album of this length. With solid production throughout and a masterclass performance of how to make electronic music on show, L-space deserve all recognition coming their way and should feel proud of their work.
I believe this album will be a strong and pivotal moment for the band, somewhere within their mountain sized catalogue of music they have managed to find what it is that makes their music enjoyable and hone it to this finely tuned masterpiece. Music For Megastructures to me sounds like the best soundtrack to a game that never existed, I look forward to seeing the band live and watching them progress even further as musicians with an expanding fan base of listeners.
